SovereigntyPublisher: Thistle Games

These two editable chapters from the RPG Handbook - Thistle Games’ system-free guide to playing tabletop roleplaying games (RPGs) - invite GMs and players to use the editable tables, templates and charts within Sovereignty to make their own custom adventures, campaign settings, tables and templates.

The Word/ OpenOffice document serves as a template for rapid print or PDF design and can save GMs many hours of arranging, formatting, aligning and numbering tables.

The options include:

  1. Creating RPG adventures/ scenarios.
  2. Structuring RPG campaign settings.
  3. Preparing campaign gazetteers.
  4. Devising random or partly random encounter tables.
  5. Designing solo RPG gameplay to suit your RPG of choice.
  6. Developing custom solo RPG gameplay.
  7. Adding extra options to existing adventures and campaigns.
  8. Constructing fantasy boardgames.

Please remember to make a backup of Sovereignty before doing any editing! It can also be helpful to work from a shortened copy of the overall document.

The basic page layout is US Letter and the files are in Word 97-2003 format for easy editing in Word or OpenOffice. Change the page layout for A4. This will mean re-aligning some headings in the US Letter version.

To maintain styles and allow bookmarking, select the font you wish to use and apply it to the style via the toolbar. Changing text or headings individually will result in inconsistent styling.

It is easy to remix table content by selecting column content and copy it into blank columns in other tables.

Add and complete columns to customize and personalize tables. Sources like Thistle Games’ Spinechillers and Silent Killers can make quick work of coming up with ideas for unique table content.
